The charities. Well it wouldn't be fair to just do it for fun, would it....
2005: The Aplastic Anaemia Trust
|
For 2005 we've decided to support the Aplastic Anaemia
Trust through sponsorship for doing the the rally. Tony and Rob
have a good mate, Stuart, who recently told us about his six year-old niece
Megan. Megan's been unwell for a long time but has just recently been
diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia and is waiting to go into hospital for
what is apparently quite major treatment. The disease basically
causes a failure of the bone marrow, which in turn affects the way a
sufferer's blood works. For more info, click on the blood drop logo on the
left to access the Trust's website . Stuart's family are trying to raise funds for, and awareness of, the charity so we've decided that we ought to do our bit too. We'll be collecting sponsorship from our friends and colleagues, and if you too would like to donate towards our efforts, please visit: www.justgiving.com/teampistonbroke You can also help out in other ways - the charity collects old mobile phones and empty printer cartridges. It's not that they've got a "Stig of the Dump" thing going on, they can recycle these items to raise additional funds for their research activities. If you have any you'd like to pass on, click on the blood drop logo to access the AAT website where you'll find details of how you can send these off for free! |
2004: Sargent Cancer Care for Children
| |
In 2004 we raised cash for Sargent Cancer Care
for Children.
Why? Well we didn't have any causes quite as close to home like this year, so on the basis that I'd jumped out of a perfectly serviceable aeroplane a few years ago for this charity, it was the obvious choice. I only hoped that taking part in a banger rally wouldn't leave me with a trapped nerve resulting in a dead arm for 3 weeks... Anyway we raised over £1000 for Sargent after Gift Aid was taken into account, so well done us I reckon. If you'd like to know more about Sargent or make a donation, please click on their logo to the left. |
